Arranging an assessment

Appointments are made through the hospital's outpatient line or through the appointment service. If you are travelling from outside Chongqing, say so when you book, because the assessment and any pre-operative tests can sometimes be arranged across fewer visits. You can also use the contact page on this site to ask a question before booking.

What to bring

Bring any previous facial or neck surgery records, a list of your current medicines and allergies, and the names of any conditions you are being treated for. If your weight has changed in the last year, note by how much and when, because stability changes the timing. Photographs of your profile taken over the last few years are genuinely useful, because they show whether this is stable or still changing.

What happens at the consultation

Expect an examination rather than a presentation. The surgeon will look at your profile, assess the projection of the chin, check the bite, feel the tissues under the jaw, ask you to swallow so that the gland can be identified, and assess the skin and the muscle of the neck separately. You should leave knowing which tissue is responsible, whether treatment is appropriate, what it would involve, and what the alternatives and their limits are.

Asking a question without booking

Questions about the content of this site — including any correction you believe should be made to it — are welcome through the hospital's administration line. Clinical questions about your own case are best answered in person, and we will say so rather than guess.
