General information only

The content of this site is patient education. It describes what produces submental fullness, which tissue may be responsible, and what the available options cost in recovery and risk. It is not a diagnosis, it is not a treatment recommendation for any individual, and it does not create a doctor-patient relationship.

No substitute for examination

Whether the fullness under your jaw is fat, a gland, bone or skin depends on findings that can only be established by examining you: your profile, the projection of the chin, the bite, what lies under the skin, and how the skin and muscle behave. Reading this site cannot substitute for that, and a decision made from a website alone is a decision made without information.

Results vary and are not guaranteed

Individual results differ. Healing takes months and the final appearance is judged at 6 to 12 months. No surgeon, and no website, can guarantee an outcome, and any statement that appears to promise one should be treated with suspicion wherever you encounter it.

If something is wrong after surgery

If you have had surgery and develop rapidly increasing swelling, a tense painful area, spreading redness, fever, bleeding that does not stop, or any difficulty swallowing or breathing, contact the treating team or seek emergency care immediately rather than waiting to be seen at a routine appointment.
